In 2018, LIANG Tingwei graduated from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, majoring in contemporary art. During his studies and creations in the UK, Liang Tingwei’s art research focuses on the subtle connections between evolutionary theory and anti-evolutionary theory, as well as animal hierarchies, such as knowledge and power, morality, and communication. Since 2015, his works have been dedicated to exploring the relationship between animal nature and the divinity of human beings, as well as the value of “meaning” that is higher than the substance itself. In 2017, the “Blue Monkey” series was born. This series is also an important representative series of Liang Tingwei, in addition to his other conceptual works. The work is based on exploring the unity and complexity of human beings’ reflection on their society from the third perspective. “The viewer reflecting himself” is an important concept that Liang Tingwei is desirous to convey in his works.
